So a lot has happened in the last 2 years. I'm married, Amy has had ACL reconstructive surgery. My parents are spending the Winter in Arizona like they have always talked about, we got a do named Turk (he also goes by Sir Turkelton III, Noodles, Nugget, Porkchop, Turkey, Nathan), and I am enrolled in a triathlon.

The triathlon is the most recent event as it is coming up on Amy and Bryen's birthday, the year of our lord April 26th, 2009. It is in Florida so we will be spending the week after on the beach visiting with the Simpson family. Oh yeah, my brother in law moved to Florida to join the police academy. My training is going good, building up to the race distance of 1 mile swim, 25 mile bike, and 6 mile run. I ran 6 miles outside last night (it's finally warming up). Swimming is getting easier but I still think it's the most challenging. The run with suck too, but mostly because it's at the end.

After something that Chad said the other day, I’ve been thinking. I have a pretty Non-Buddhist lifestyle for someone who claims “that Buddhism makes the most sense to me.” I will explain.

For someone that “hates” consumerism, I am a huge consumer. I am very materialistic. Want want want, buy buy buy. Luckily I am broke, otherwise I could see it being a lot worse. This does not stop me from obsessing over gizmos and gadgets. I fear that this is a slippery slope that I need to put an end to ASAP. I have seen where it can lead, and I don’t like it. I came across this article today that I found helpful, and on point. It even quotes Dharma Bums.

Haven’t posted here in a long time. Still trying to get my life in order. Start accomplishing the things that I need to accomplish. Got Amy’s poster for New York together last night. Shower invites are printed, just need the envelopes now. MGM opened up. I did the drawing that I needed to do for the 100 Artist Project, still gotta mail it in though. I feel like I still haven’t accomplished much because there is so much more that I need to do. Oh well. One thing at a time...

Going full blast and having the intention to complete unfinished business is a very good idea. You don’t realize how much you’ve been sidetracked. This has put a crimp in other people’s lives and even though they’ve been understanding, inside they’re a little pissed off. If you can wrap up what you set out to do nine months ago, everyone will benefit. A lot is riding on your ability to use your energy wisely. Keep in mind that random forms of interference will always be there and schedule your plans accordingly.

Been procrastinating a lot of things lately. I need to set up some structure for getting such things accomplished. Set aside time every night. Starting tonight. Sorry to everyone that has been waiting on this stuff.

This link speaks on something that I think about daily. It all goes back to the never-ending question -- "What is my purpose in this world?" But this speaks to that on a smaller scale. As an artist - a designer, what am I doing to help this world? What message am I trying to send? Well right now I am not sending any message, seeing as that I havn't designed or drawn for personal reasons in longer than I like to think about. How do I get out of this rut? Not really sure, but hopefully it will end soon because I can't take much more of this.
